ProSense has been shortlisted for the finals of the 2024 International Intelligent Sensing New Quality Innovation Competition
On August 22, 2024, the "Science and Technology Innovation Huishan Intelligent Sailing" Intelligent Sensing New Quality Innovation Conference and the International Intelligent Sensing New Quality Innovation Competition semi-finals were grandly held in Huishan District, Wuxi City. On site, 30 projects involved popular sensing technology application fields such as industry, automotive, smart healthcare, smart home, smart water management, and humanoid robots. Nine evaluation experts evaluated them one by one. After six hours of project roadshows and scoring, ProSense successfully made it to the finals of the International Intelligent Sensing New Quality Innovation Competition.
As a key component and underlying technology of intelligence, sensors have developed rapidly in recent years and have gradually attracted the attention of major application sectors. New sensing technologies and applications continue to emerge, becoming a crucial part of developing new quality productivity. This time, the domestic intelligent sensing industry platform SENSOR CHINA has pioneered the "International Intelligent Sensing New Quality Innovation Competition". By collaborating with global partners, they jointly select and support a group of sensing technologies/projects with core competitiveness to quickly land and integrate across borders, promote the release of new quality kinetic energy in sensing technology, and ultimately achieve the construction of new formats in the intelligent sensing industry, helping to promote high-quality development.
In this competition, ProSense unveiled its "Long Life Hydrogen Sensor" project, aiming to promote the application of hydrogen sensing in the lithium battery safety industry and improve the fire safety of lithium batteries. Hydrogen is the golden indicator for monitoring thermal runaway in lithium batteries. In the early stages of thermal runaway in lithium batteries, some key characteristic gases are released, such as H2 (hydrogen), CO (carbon monoxide), CO2 (carbon dioxide), C2H4 (ethylene), CH4 (methane). If these gases are effectively monitored, thermal runaway and even fires in lithium batteries can be prevented in advance.
Hydrogen gas is prone to release during the thermal runaway process of lithium batteries, with the characteristics of early generation and large gas volume. According to relevant literature, hydrogen is the first to be detected in the thermal runaway experiment of lithium batteries (an experiment has shown that hydrogen is detected 639 seconds earlier than smoke), which strongly confirms that introducing hydrogen sensors into battery systems is an effective strategy for early sensing and even preventing thermal runaway.
On June 27-28, 2024, the kickoff meeting for the development of the national standard "Technical Requirements for Fire Monitoring and Early Warning System of Electrochemical Energy Storage Power Station" was held in Xining City, Qinghai Province. Currently, the standard is being drafted and is in the stage of soliciting opinions. The standard recommends the use of hydrogen sensors in the fire monitoring and early warning system of electrochemical energy storage power stations.
ProSense's hydrogen and carbon monoxide sensors and other products form a lithium battery thermal runaway solution, which has been purchased by multiple domestic energy storage system fire protection solution providers. In this competition, ProSense successfully made it to the finals of the International Intelligent Sensing New Quality Innovation Competition with its leading electrochemical sensing technology and excellent product performance. This is not only a powerful proof of ProSense's products, but also an important milestone for hydrogen sensing to assist in the safe thermal runaway of lithium batteries and create a new benchmark in the industry. Looking ahead to the future, ProSense will continue to uphold the spirit of innovation, deepen technological research and development, provide more high-performance and high-quality sensing solutions, and offer better products and services to more customers, working together to create a safe, intelligent, and beautiful future.
