Pass Door Systems
In consultation with clients going back over two years, Pass Door Systems (PDS) has designed a new fire rated product range for the modular and portable building industry. Historically a market leader in low U-Value solutions to meet Part L requirements, PDS re-designed and tested it’s DuraPass-Fire personnel doors so that insulation values were maximised in fire doors rated from 30 to 60 minutes.
PDS engaged with Efectis, a global leader in fire safety and testing with tests starting in 2022. Efectis carries out tests to more than 850 accredited standards including UKCA and CE to which all PDS doors were tested for compliance. The rigorous standards require that every door in the testing programme is inspected and signed off while it’s being manufactured at PDS. Testing in purpose built fire chambers is then carried out for each type of door, window option, odd leg frame and hardware accessory.
PDS has reported that after more than thirty-five individual tests and exacting factory production control audits by Efectis, the entire DuraPass Fire range has passed the testing protocols. Formal certificates are in the process of being issued by Efectis Engineering and Certification, France.
These certifications include U-Values as low as 1.6 for both 30 and 60 minute fire rated doors. Single and double doors passed testing and PDS has confirmed that custom made-to-measure solutions are still the most desired option for clients across the DuraPass Fire lineup. Additional investments have been made in production capacity so that lead times are improved to 10-15 days.
