Fire Door Inspections

Legislative Requirements
Recent changes in the fire safety legislation, such as the Building Safety Act 2022 and the Fire Safety (England) Regulations 2022, have increased the responsibility and accountability of building owners and managers for the fire safety of their buildings, especially those over 11 metres with at least 2 domestic dwellings.
One of the key requirements is to ensure that all fire doors are inspected and maintained on a frequency appropriate to the building usage. All doors must be inspected and maintained in an efficient state, as they are vital for preventing the spread of fire and smoke and protecting the occupants and the property.
Our team is made up of skilled and experienced fire safety experts.
Our fire risk assessors and fire door inspectors are all competent, qualified professionals and members of the Institute of Fire Safety Managers either Tier 2 or Tier 3 assessors.
They have the skills and knowledge to conduct thorough and accurate fire risk assessments and fire door inspections for your premises. They are also subject to external on-going monitoring by NSI, the leading certification body for the fire and security industry, to ensure we maintain compliance with BAFE SP205.
The Golden Thread
The Hackitt report, following the Grenfell disaster, talks about the ‘Golden Thread’ of information being held in a single digital platform. Our QuidvisRisk reporting and risk management platform has been designed to do just that. It allows you to view your fire door inspections and manage the remedials all from one system.
QuidvisRisk provides our clients with the control and flexibility for managing the work required and to resolve identified risks, while ensuring they have a detailed and complete audit trail for all work carried out and risks resolved. This includes the following functionality:
- Assign jobs to internal or external contractors
- Raise supplier quote requests
- Add unlimited amount of suppliers
- Work progress reporting
- Sign off and resolve jobs completed by supplier
- Performance and spend reports by supplier
For clients who don’t want the system, each building assessment comes with a detailed PDF report and/or an Excel report. We can also offer an API integration into client systems if required.
Our reports are not only reliable and accurate, but also easy to understand and use. They help you achieve compliance and safety and save you money and hassle in the long run.
Our Fire Door Inspection Methodology
Our fire door inspectors are also qualified fire risk assessors, which means they can identify not only compliance issues but also the potential risks to life and property posed by faulty or unnecessary fire doors. They can advise you on the best course of action to rectify the problems and reduce the costs.
We inspect every aspect of your fire doors, including:
- Door Leaf
- Frame
- Hinges
- Closers
- Furniture
- Glass
- Seals
- Gaps
We provide detailed descriptions, observations and recommendations for each door, along with photographs to support our findings.
We do not provide a remedial service ourselves, therefore you can be confident that we are not recommending remedial work to generate money for ourselves. All our inspections are detailed, evidence based and unbiased.
The assessments are not just a tick box exercise; each door is inspected in great detail and, as standard, all measurements are taken of the reveal and gaps. We ensure we provide enough detail about every door that, should you require remedial works or a replacement door to be installed, your remedial suppliers will have enough information, without the need for them to revisit the site.
Every door that is recorded as non-compliant has a separate defect report for each issue identified:
- Every defect has 3 evidence photographs
- Inspector’s observations
- Inspector’s recommendations
- Repair or replace recommendation
- Risk rating of low or high
Fire Door Inspection Reports
Estate Wide Reports
These summarise the status and defects of all your fire doors in one place. You can easily see how many doors are compliant or non-compliant, how many have verification labels or plugs, and how many need to be repaired or replaced. You can also see the breakdown of defects by category and risk level and get recommendations on how to address them.
Property Level Reports
We provide a detailed fire door register for each building, with all the relevant information and multiple photographs for each door. You can see the location, ID, material, rating, and set of each door and frame, as well as any comments or observations from our inspectors.
